Samoans Celebrate Great War Anniversary
Rec. 6.30 p.m- Apia, Aug. 29. The 28th anniversary of the landing of New Zealand troops in Western Samoa and the hoisting of the Union Jack was commemorated by an appropriate ceremony at the Administration buildings to-day. Mr. A. C. Turnbull, .acting Administrator, delivered a stirring address to a large gathering of Europeans and Samoans. Speeches were also made by the Hon. Faalavaau, representing the Faipuli and the Samoan people, and by the Hon. Arnando Stowers, second elected oiember to the Samoa Legislative Council. The flag was again raised by Naea, the Samoan who raised it on August 29, 1914.
