Church Farewell. A farewell evening was given by the Waverley Anglican Church in honour of Mr. and Mrs, H. Boyer, who are leaving the district to live at Tauranga. The Rev. Mr. Stanley presented Mr. Boyer with an umbrella and Mrs. Boyer with a handbag. Mrs. Rugg, who is also leaving the parish, was presented with an umbrella. Salesmanship Prize. The first award for a saies idea for July made by Kerridge Theatres and New Zealand Theatres Ltd. has been given to Mr. W. A. Hodgson, manager of the Plaza Theatre, Stratford. The winning contribution was a display advertising a coming film and was made from waste chocolate-box card. Alpine Club Farewell. A flve o'clock party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Syme on Friday to enable members of the Mount Egmont Alpine Club to farewell Mr. H. A. Snowdon, vice-captain of the club. Regret that army service necessitated the severance of Mr. Snowdon's associations with the club was expressed by the president, Mr. W. F. Julian. Mr. Snowdon, he said, was a foundation member of the club, club captam for many years, a member of the executive of the New Zealand Federated Mountam Clubs and of the Ski Council of New Zealand.
