Addition to Gray's Team.
Hector Gray has a rather attractive receht addition to his team in the shape of a two-ycar-old by St. Boswells from Rule Britannia. Changed His Quarters. C. V. McManemin has transferred his team of four horses, including the promlsing Sir Simon, to Takanini. He has taken over the stables of L. G. Abel, who retired from active participation in the sport some time ago. Veteran Trainer. Mr. George Lambton, well known Newmarket trainer, has entered upon his flftieth year as a trainer. He has 34 horses in training and 15 of them are two-year-olds. Lambton bcgan training in 1893. The following year he began his long association with the present Lord Derby and his father. That association lasted for 40 years. Had No Emrly Pace. Mountain Fox was fancied in the six furlong sprint on Saturday and, riddcn by Brougliton, was made thlrd choice. Shaped Like Early Wlnner. Mr. W. S. Glenn's chestnut colt Sunblaze™ ran a good race for fourth in the Waverley Hack, being right up with Voltaire. He did not do his best until late last season nnd shapes as though he will soon win. Sunblaze is a three-year-old by Broiefort from the speedy Sparkiing Morn and is quartered in H. Dulieu's stable. Beaten From Start. The two favourites in the Wereroa Stakes, Corday and Flahuluk, both failed to jump out and xvcrc not sighted in Ihe hig field of 29. Corday is Usually a smart beginner and no doubt will soon make amcnds. Thc Man's Pal gelding is promising. Flahuluk is a three-year-old by Musketoon from Elope, and a very high opinion is held of him. Dividend to Spell. Dividend Is to be sent to the Ptgeon Bay propcrty of his owner, Mr. E. Hay, to spell for some months. He will probebly start steeplechasing next winter. Peli Mcll, a three-year-old brown gelding by Man's Pal from Pelinet, will replace him in T. H. Gillett's stablc. Pelinet died some time ago and recently Mr. Hay lost a fllly foal from her. Doria, which had to be spelled late last scason because of recurring lameness, is also due back in the stabie. Consistent Record. Indian Sun, Saturday's steeplechase wlnner, has now three wins and a second to his credit in his last four starts, and lt has been said his ridcr was rather eager at Pakuranga or he may have won there, too. Indian Sun is ainiost a novice at thc ganic, hui has made marked improvemeqt in a very short time. The BulandsharSunbar gelding is onl.v six years old and nppcars to have a big fiiture. Next winter his namc may figurc prominenily in the results or some of the more important cross-counlry events.
