Motoring Offences Dealt With in N.P. Police Court
' Charges against motorists were heard in the New Plymouth police court yesterday, before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M. Sergeant J. McKie conducted the . prosecution for the police. I Agnes Mary Roherts, charged with failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian on a pedestrian fcrossing in .Devon Street on August 5, was fined 10s (costs 10s). I Arising out of an accident at the interrection of GiIT*Sfid Eliot Streets on July 15, Cyril Edgar Mawson was charged 1 with driving a motor-car without a drivI er's license. He pleaded guilty and was I fined 10s (costs 10s). George H. Fletcher, who was concern- ! ed in the same accident, was charged ] with failing to give way to traffic on his | right, while driving a truck along Gill i Street, and with not being the holder of ' a driver's license. He entered no plea on the first charge, but pleaded guilty ! by letter to the second. In a statement : to the police he had said that he was j driving along Gill Street in the direc- | tion of Waitara and when at the middle i of the intersection a car on his right I collided with his truck and he received I injuries to the chest, ear and hand. He 1 was fined 30s (costs 10s) on the first | charge and 10s (costs 10s) on the second 1 charge. , j Claude William Rohloff was fined £2 I (costs 10s) and had his license cancelled for three months on a charge of driving I a motor cycle in Morley Street on July 1 18 without due care and attention. He ; collided with a taxi-cah which pulled I up at the intersection with South Road | because the driver was afraid that he ! would collide with the motor-cycle, I which was coming up Morley Street from the sea at a good speed.
