Anomaly in Taxation Of Overseas Companies
Auckland, Aug. 31. The views of the Minister in Charge of the . Land and Income Tax Depart- . ment. the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, on the taxation of overseas companies have been submitted to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce by the Associated Chambers of Commerce. Hardships whereby prefits were taxed both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom would appear to be capable of solution only by appropriate action by the United Kingdom Government, said the Minister. In the case of profits made in England by New Zealand concerns, they were exempted from taxation in New Zealand' if taxed in Great Britain. If Great Britain was prepared to grant a similar exemption in the case of profits made in New Zealand by concerns in Great Britain the anomaly would be removed. The Minister said he was submilting the matter to the United Kingdom authorities through the United Kingdom High Commissioner.
