Jockey Injured. A dislocated hip was received by F. C. Cleaver, rider of Glen Abb, which fell in the Combined Hunt Cup Handicap. Steeplechase at the Taranaki and Eg-mont-Wanganui Hunt Clubs' meeting at Hawera on Saturday. He was taken to the Hawera hospital, and his condition last night was reported to be satisfactory. Empty Bottles Collected. One room used by the Canterbury Reclamation Board for the storage of waste material was almost filled with old batties, said Mr. H. C. Wild, delegate to the board from the North Canterbury executive of the Farmers' Union, at a meeting of the executive. These bottles, Mr. Wild added, were collected in the town. Mr. R. G. Bishop (chairman): "Note— they did not come from the country!" Mt. Egmont Climbed. Six members of the Taranaki Alpine Club climbed to the summit of Mt. Egmont yesterday after spending Saturday night in Tahurangi hut. They found conditions ideal for climbing and skiing. Mr. F. Atkinson, who is in charge of the lodge at the toll gate, cleared the track of snow yesterday and cars were able to go as far as the hostel. Twentyone persons cycled to the mountain yesterday. Horsc Bencficiary Dcad. A horse which became a beneficiary in the will of a well-known citizen of • Dunedin, Mr. David Wilkie, who left a sum of money in 1938 for its maintenance, as it had served him faithfully for over 26 years, has died. It was 32 years of age. Officiais of the Public Trust Office and the person who looked after the horse at Logan Park had seen that it received every attention in its declining years.
