Presentations at Okaiawa

There was a large attendance in the Okaiawa hall at a social evening in honour of Privates Gorden Murdoch, Stan McLlroy and Arthur Gill. Gifts were presented to each soldier by the chairman, Mr. J. C. Barclay. Captain Bailey spoke on behalf of the Home Guard. Music was played by . Mr. Quirke, Hawera, who also sar.g two songs. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss D. Shearer and Mr. P. Toro. Mr. W. Blair was master of ceremonies. Euchre play was controlled by Mr. W. Bridgwood, prizewinners being: Mrs. Martin 1. Mrs. Williams 2 ; Mr. R. Tippett X, Mr. Courtney 2. Mr. and Mrs. N. Bellrlnger and Miss Buckley, New Plymouth, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hollis. Miss E. Ross, Otakeho, was recently the guest of Miss D. Shearer. Mrs. J. Hogg, Wanganui, recently visited Mrs. E. A. Drake, Hamilton, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Cox visited Okaiawa recently.
