Committees Appointed For Churchill Auctions

Following the visit to Hawera last week of Mr. Pat Lawlor, honorary Dominion organiser of the Churchill auctions, a committee was set up to promote the giving of rare books, pictures, signed letters of notabilities and antiques for the auctions. The committee comprises Dr. W. S. Fogg. Messrs. L. H. Clapham, M. J. Burns, L. A. Ablett and J. H. Horton (secretary). The committee set up at Stratford comprises Messrs. V. Thompson, F. P. D. Jeffries, J. C. Robins. W. F. Ross, C. S. Kelly, W. G. Liddle and W. L. Kennedy. The New Plymouth committee is Dr. G. Home, Messrs. P. E. Stainton. W. H. Skinner, M. J. Armstrong, C. Hannan, A. M. Purser, D. F. C. Saxton, B. Scanlan, W. P. Griffith, H. W. Insull and H. M. Bacon (honorary secretary). Churchill auctions are to take place at Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin in October and, if sufficient gifts are secured from the locality concerned. in some other provincial town. Similar committees have been set up in other Taranaki towns and it is considered possible that the total gifts may justify the holding of a special aution in the province. If not. the gifts will be sent to the Wellington snlc. earmarked for disposal for Taranaki funds.
