Stratford Emergency Siren. The erection of the E.P.S. siren on a less vulnerable position than the post office was considered by the Stratford district E.P.S. committee last night. As the wiring of the siren and the fire brigade alarm bells was estimated to cost about £40, and the site of "the siren was a matter for the borough council, the question was referred to a subcommittee to consult with the council. Fire Protection. Expenditure on trailer pumps and similar fire protection equipment should be a charge on the fund collected by the Government for war damage insurance, advocated Mr. A. E. Pollock at the Stratford district E.P.S. committee meeting last night. It was pointed out in reply that the Government already met twothirds of the cost and the other onethird was a charge on the ratepayers whose property was being protected.
