Reconstitution of E.P.S. In Stratford District
' Reconstitution of the Stratford District Emergency Precautions Service in accordance with the regulations issued in March has been made following negotiations between the borough and county councils. At a meeting of the central committee at Stratford last night the new constitution was approved and controllers and deputy controllers were appointed or confirmed in office. Mr. J. C. Best, county chairman, became chairman of the central committee, with the deputy-Mayor, Mr. R. F. Harkness, as deputy-chairman. Mr. N. H. Moss, chief controller, was reappointed to the office, and also becomes principal administrative and executive officer. Mr. F. C. Elgar was reappointed secretary. Controllers and deputy-controllers respectively of the various units, with the controllers forming the committee with the chairman and deputy-chairman and Mr. W. E. Forbes (county) and Mr. H. S. Sinclair (borough), are Wardens, Messrs. E. S. Rea, O. S. Tunniclifle; medical, Messrs. G. G. Barclay, L. Ennis; supply. Messrs; A. R- Masters, W. E. Williams; law and order, Sergeant W. F. Ferguson, Constable G. Graham; communications, Messrs. T. P. Cleary, J. Dowling; information and publicity, Mr. Moss, — ; works, Messrs. Sinclair, R. Richards; transport, Messrs. H. Bishop, J. C. Robins; evacuation and accommodation, Messrs. W- R. Evans, W. S. Tompkins; fire, Messrs. W. G. Brocklebank, D. S. Butcher; lighting, Messrs. A. E. Pollock, P. White; records, Messrs. R. R. Tyrer, W. E. Jones; county controllers, Messrs. Best, C. J. L. Campbell; army liaison officer and bomb disposal organiser, Mr. N. O. Ebbett; liaison officers for other units, Messrs. Cleary (post office communications), A. B. Casey (railway E.P.S.) . the Hon. W. J. Polson (member of Parliament), G. M. Richardson (E.P.S. headquarters). The appointment of Messrs. Moss and Masters as representatives on the North and Central Taranaki E.P.S. co-ordina-tion committee was confirmed. Additional members on the central executive are representatives of the W.W.S.A. and ihe W.D.F.U., Mrs. F. L. Young being the former, and the latter not yet appointed. After Mr. Best had taken the chair, Mr. Sinclair moved that the meeting should place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. Moss in his capacity as chairman of the central committee. This was seconded by Mr. Harkness and carried.
