Weddings
Riddick — O'Brien In St. Mark's Church, Te Aroha, on July 25, Evelyn, eldest daughter of Mrs. O'Brien, Kotuku, Te Aroha, and the late Mr. Jack O'Brien, Manawaru, was married to Ernest Riddick, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Riddick, New Plymouth. Canon C. W. Turner officiated. The bride, escorted by her uncle, Mr. Fricker, Rotorua, wore a gown of ivory lace, with a heart-shaped neckline, close-fitting bodice and a bouffant, trained skirt. Her veil of embroidered tulle fell from a coronet of orange blossom and pearls. Winter roses and narcissi formed her bouquet. The bridesmaid, Miss Mavis O'Brien, wore a picture frock of rose pink lace, and carried a bouquet of pink winter roses, daphne and heather. Colleen O'Brien was flower girl. Mr. Stanley Riddick was best man, and ushers were Mr. Errol Wilson and Mr. Jim McLean, uncle of the bride. Miss Winifred Shannon was organist. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a satin horsehoe by her cousin, Carol Fricker. At a reception in the Domain tea rooms Mrs. O'Brien wore a blue frock, with navy accessories, and fox fur. Mrs. F. R. Riddick wore a navy costume and accessories. For travelling, the bride wore a grey costume, with black accessories and carried a coat, the gift of the bridegroom.
