Higher Payment Made By Joll Dairy Company

An estimated flnal payment of 18.625d a pound butterfat, exclusive of interest on share capital, compared with a flnal payment last year of 17.875d, was announced at the annual meeting of shareliolders oi' the T. Whey butter: Recovery 5.38 per cent. (5.58 per cent), butter 29S, 3121b (322,8701b); grade 88.805 (88.96). Contrary to his predictions at the last annual meeting, the payment for the season was better than for the previous year, Baid the chairman, Mr. G. H. Meuli. He atlrlbuted this to the inereased yield which was general in South Taranaki. The inereased costs were not very great last year. He thought the company might liave a slightly better payment at the eud of the current season. The appointment of Mr. W. E. Scott, a director of the company, to the Dairy Boanl was not only a recognition of his ability, but also an honour to the company, said Mr. Meuli. The company was displaced from the top of the cheese grading list at Patea, the Auroa branch being second and Ihe Mangawhero branch third. Whey butter was graded 88.085 and was eighth on ihe list. The splendid veterinary service expcrienced by the section of the suppliers that had entcred the sclieme was refcrred to by Mr. JL Treweek, and Mr. Meuli commented that it was a pity that all supplirs had not entcred the schemc. The retiring directors, Messrs. T. J. Blair, A. E. Luscomhc and A. Robertson, were re-elected unopposed, and Mr. H. A. Lennou was reappointed auditor.
