Four Chimney Fires Result From New Plymouth Gale
Four chimney fires which occurred at New Plymouth yesterday afternoon were a result of the strong gale blowing at the time. Because of the force of the wind, two firemen, equipped with a bucket pump, had considerable difficulty in extinguishing the fires. Two of the fires occurred in Courtenay Street. one at 2.25 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Hutton, and the other at 7.16 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Price. The brigade received a call to a State house occupied by Major Harford at 6.59 p.m., and at 7.20 p.m. to the house of MrsJury, Pendarves Street; .
