No Charitable Aid Case Occurs at Stratford

Not one charitable aid case occurred in the month. it was reported to the Stratford Hospital Board yesterday. This was the first time for many years, and at one time such relief reached a cost of £1000 a year to the board. In reply to questions the secretary, Mr. T. L. Penn, said social security was partly responsible for the relief, and present conditions also contributed. The medical superintendent, Dr. C. R. Lambert, reported that 84 patients were admitted in July, 56 remaining. The Whangamomona district nurse, Miss E. Edwards, reported having made 292 visits to 55 patients and covered 1385 miles in July.
