Cliild Injured. Rangi Kateni, Manaia, aged eight years, was admitted to the Hawera hospital yesterday suffering from cuts to his foot. His condition is reported to be satisfactory. Soldiers Honoured. Three Waverlev soldiers, Privates Des Johnston, R. Fieldes and W. Mathews, were guests of honour at a social evening in the town hall. Each soldier received a wallet, presented by the citizens and patriotic committee. Supper was served by the members of the W.D.F.U. ; Scalded by Boiling Water. When he spilled boiling water over himself Abraham Graham, aged two years, Fraser Road, Hawera, received injuries to the face and chest and was admitted to the Hawera hospital. His condition last night was reported to be satisfactory. Men Assist W.W.S.A. An appeal by Mrs. R. W. Haddow to members of the Patea Chamber of Commerce on Monday night for assistance for the Patea Women's War Service Auxiliary in its efforts to prepare a section for planting vegetables did not fall on deaf ears. The president, Mr. F. Ramsbottom, undertook to secure a plough and team of horses, if the area was cleared of bricks and other rubbish, and six men volunteered to remove all rubbish next Saturday afternoon. The vegetables will be sent to the A.N-A. club, Wellington.
