Breaches of traffic and car lighting regulations were brought before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the New Plymouth Police Coufrt yesterday morning, several motorists being convicted. For attempting to overtake another vehicle at the intersection of Devon and Normanby Streets on July 28, Hugh John Maunsell, a private in the army, who pleaded guilty, was fined 30s (costs 10s). The two vehicles, a lorry carrying metal, and an army truck driven by Maunsell, were travelling west from the Waiwakaiho bridge, said Senior-Sergeant C. M. Anniss. In attempting to pass the lorry Maunsell collided with it, and' his truck came to rest against a concrete wall.
