Activities of Chamber Of Commerce at Patea

A membership of 58 was reported at the annual meeting of the Patea Chamber of Commerce last night, this being an increase during the year of two. The year was a busy one. stated the president, Mr. F. Ramsbottom, in his report. and at no time was there any period of inactivity. Support was given to the effort of the Patea Borough Council to have a footbridge erected on the Patea traffic bridge, and the chamber was in direct contact with the Public Works Department. The matter was still being dealt with. On account of the war the chamber was unable to arrange for a nightwatchman, but members were still convinced that one was necessary. The chamber convinced the Post and Telegraph Department of the necessitv of a public telephone box. and the work was authorised. only the suppLv of material delaying its erection.
