Attempt to Complete Bull Fair In One Day
Although there is an entry of 130 bulls for the first South Taranaki national Jersey Show and bull fair at Hawera next Saturday, the Hawera Jersey Cattle Club has deeided to try to conclude the sale in one day. Entries are the largest the club has had in the history of annual fairs, and it was originally proposed to extend the show and fair over two days. At the annual meeting of the club it was considered advisable, because of labour difficulties, that vendors and purchasers should not be away from their homes longer than was necessary. Full co-operation of vendors and purchasers would be needed to achieve this objective, it "was stated. Officers elected were: President, Mr. C. H. Washer; vice-president, Mr. S. A. Tippett; committee, Messrs. W. Mortlock (Normanby), G. R. Scown (Manutahi), H. Sutherland (Alton), J. Pettigrew (Pihama), J. McKay (Mpkoia); auditor, Mr. H. A. Lennon.
