Kohi : Mrs. Waterland presidei! at the AugUBt meetinsr. A new member, Mrs. Guilford, was enrolled. Mrs. G. Martin, Palmerston North, gave a talk on Holland. Competitions, judged by Mrs. Martin, resulted : Senior, Mrs. Guilford 1, Mrs. Lennox 2, Mrs. Littlewood. 3 ; junior, Miss D. Hughes 1, Miss E. Oliver 2; bloom, Mrs. Milne j, Mrs. Tarrant 2, Mrs. Lennox 3. Six quota r.one parccls were packed. Kaponga: A demonstration on the making of felt posies and bags was given b.v Mesdames W. Ritter and P. Harding at the August meeting. Mrs. J. Tattersall presided in the absence of Mrs. C. H. Brewer. It was deeided to aliow all members to enter monthly competitions, even if they are uneble to be present. It was deeided not to lend institute crockery for pubiic functions. Competitions resulted : Lnw howl of flowers, Mrs. F. W. Fallows; wholemeal biscuits. Mrs. I. E. Evans : something new from something old '-hopping bag). Miss J. Thurston : travelling shilling, Mrs. .T. A. Dawson. Hostesses were Mesdames J. H. Tyack and I. E. Evans. Kakaramea : Because it was members' meeting, Mrs. Hurley presided, and Mrs. Lonie i was secretary. Mesdames Kerrisk, Clark and Cockerton were welcomed as visitors, and Mesdames P. and L. Long as new members. The golden thread was read by Mrs. Dyer and the motto by Mrs. Hunt. Mrs. Kerrisk gave a demonstration on the making of gloves. Mrs. Kerrisk also gave a brief idea on the making of a mat from a fleece and three sugar saeks. It was deeided to forward 12 soldiers' parcels and to give £5 to the Red Cross Society for prisoners of war. Hostesses tvere Mesdames Hall and Edgecombe. Cnmo"titions resulted: Bloom.
