Hawera Horses Prepare
The going at the Hawera tracks on Saturday was flrmer for the gallops of horses to race next Saturday. A number of spcctators were present. Brlght Gesture (Graham) and Val Pcic (Turu) gallopcd half a mile in *>4s. Brighi Gesture showing to advantage. Peter'a Cholce (Potroz) sprmted three furlongs comfortably vin 40s. Cordav (Potroz) again recorded one or the best half miles of the morning by shadins Duncannon (Graham) at the tinish in 58 3-5s." Night Ray (Mills) and Retort (Flower) were ■ Hssociated over flve furlongs run in 1.8}s. taking 41s for the flrst three. Retorl led In the early atages, but Night Ray was a neck in i'ront at the end. , Clarlce (Ellia) ran half a mtle in a tick under 54s. Bunsby (Flower), after pacing a round, sprintcd home the last three furlongs of a second eircuit in 40s. Manpowcr (Potroz) gallopcd half a mile down the back in 58js. Student Prince (Flower), working over a round, flnished strongly in the last three furlongs in 42 8-5s. Blaek Renarde gallopcd half a mile attractively In 54s, the last two furlongs taking 261s. Battledress (Flower) and Polysotis (Graham) sprintcd home three furlongs in 40}s Battledress flnished in front. Hinkler, Venture, Smooger and Te Haka are expccted among the earllest horses tr arrive for the hunt meeting. The light welght A. Toki, former Hawera apprentice, will be a ridcr at the flxture.
