Trams Collide After One Takes Wrong Turning

When two trams collided in the upper end of Pitt Strcet late yesterday afternoon injuries nCcessitating hospital treatment were received by, both drivers and two passengers. After receiving treatment for minor injuries at the casualty deparjtment the injured persons were able to go home. Another passenger collapsed when the acciden; occurred, but quickly recovered. A heavilv loaded , tram bound for Ponsonby, which should have run to the top of Pitt Street, turned at a set of automatic points opposite Beresford Street leading to a siding in that street. As it came on to the downhill line of the Pitt Street double track it struck another tram, which was returning from Ponsonby with only a few passengers. The. drivers' cabins were severely damaged and glass was strewn over the roadway. Long lines of trams quickly collected on each side of the collision and after a -*eriod were diverted.
