Rec. 7.45 p.m. Washington, Aug. '20. Senator Josh Reynolds, chairman of the military affairs committee, told the ! Senate that the United States could demonstrate the sincerity of the Atlantic Charter by calling on Britain to grant India her independence. Senator Bridges interrupted and said Senator Reynolds was not acting in the interests, of unity when he attempted to dictate to their Ally. The Democratic leader, Senator Barkley, asked if Senator Reynolds spoke for himself or the military committee and Senator Reynolds replied: "I am speaking for myself."
