Solomons Quiet

London, August 20. A Navy- Department communique issued earlier at Washington said that United States marines are engaged in mopping-up the remnants of the Japanese forces on islands recently captured in the Solomons archipelago. The casual bombardment of shore positions by the enemy had caused only minor damage. An enemy destroyer or cruiser was set on fire and damaged by our aircraft.
