Ten Thousand Troops Probably Landed
London, Aug. 20. Eye-witnesses estimated that 10,000 men were landed and an equal force ready for action waited off shore. A Germar. communique repeats the claim that. all of the 28 tanks landed were destroyed and 1500 prisoners were taken. It says that 400 Germar.s were killed or wounded and adds that the bulk of the forces for continuation of thc landing in 35 transports under naval protection had to turn back. Artillery and planes sank four destroyers, three motor torpedo-boats, one patrol-boat and seven transports. and also damaged four cruisers, five transports and other ships.
