Duration of Emergency Regulations Act Extended

The duration of the Emergency Regulations Act, 1939, is extended to December 31, 1943, by the Emergency Regulations Amendment Bill which was put through all its stages and passed by the House of Representatives. The Bill also validates all emergency regulations which have already been made in accordance with the principal Act. When the Bill was being discussed on the second reading the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. S. G. Holland, _ asked if opportunity would be given when the House resumed later in the year to discuss the regulations which had been btought down. An assurance that such an opportunity would be granted was readily given by the deputyLeader of the House, the Hon. D, G. Sullivan.
