Army Truck Overturned In Collision
Passenger in small car receives injuries. After meeting a small car in a collision at New Plymouth yesterda yafternoon a two-ton army truck ^ came to rest with its wheels in the air and facing in a direction opposite j to that in which it had been travel- j ling. j Mrs. J. Her condition last night was reported • to be satisfactory. The accident happened at the intersection of Leach and Gover Streets. The truck, driven by Private T. J. Jeffery who had with him another private, was travelling along Gover Street when the collission occurred with a small car driven by Mr. J. A. Harding, insurance representative who, accompanied by his wife, was driving along Leach Street towards town. Mrs. Harding was taken to the hospital after receiving attention from Dr. W. J. Reid. Mrs. Harding, who also suffered from shock, was able to go home. Neither of the occupants of the army truck was injured. Immediately after the collision members of the army swept every particle of broken glass from the road, removed spilt oil and covered the affected part of the road surface with sand to make it safe. "It was the best job I have ever seen," commented Mr. R. Day, chief borough inspector, last night.
