Debt Claim. Judgment for plaintiff by default was entered by Messrs. W. Liddell and H. C. North, justices of the peace, in the Stratford court yesterdav in the case A. Hurren v. C. G. Schlichting for £1 3s (costs 11§). Surprise Party. A surprise party was held at the home of Mrs. Ted Hancock, Stratford, in honour of her 6on Tom, who is to enter camp. Games, cards, dancing and community singing were held. A presentation of a cigarette case was made. Eltham Indoor Bowling. With a win and a draw, Oddfellows made its position secure in the Eltham indoor bowling contest on Tuesday. Results were: Oddfellows A 16 v. Druids B 16; Oddfellows B 24 v. Druids A 15; Foresters A 21 v. Diggers B 12; Diggers A 23 v. Foresters B 14. Bootten badges: Oddfellows 8 v. Foresters 5. Eltham Library. After the resignation of the Eltham library committee a report on the library was considered by the borough council in committee on Wednesday evening. It was later reported that the library would be maintained for the present and that the library committee's resignation was accepted.
