New Classroom Added To School at Lepperton
"With the addition of the classroom officially opened yesterday afternoon by Mr. J. A. Valentine, chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, the open-air school at Lepperton is recognised as one of ihe most modem in the province. Exterior coldurs are bright and special attention has been given to the lay-out and pare of the grounds. "And so the board gives this fine school tnd its beautiful grounds to the people of Lepperton to hold in trust and care for," Mr. Valentine said. "Some may think the district lucky to get such a tchool, but the fact is that the board likejs helping those who help themselves and Lepperton does help itself. Settlers In a naturally beautiful countryside have not spared themselves to improve it as far as man can." It was three years last May since the new school was opened, said Mr. F. T. Crowe, chairrnan of the school commitfcee. They were proud of it and they were prouder still now that they had another dassroom added. They owed a great deal to board members and staff for what had been done. Trlbutes were paid to Mr. C. H. Moore, the board 's architect, and brief addresses were given by Mr. H. H. Hunter, senior inspeetdr, Mr. T. J. Griffin, board member, Mr. H. W. Insull, board secretary, and Mr. Moore. Mr. Moore, referring to his intention to retire, said he had been working for very many years in designing and caring for the board's buildings and he had come to take an intense interest in the children who occuoied them. Under the direction of Mr. R. H. Sinelair. headmaster, the pupils sang Maori songs and action songs and did choral speaking and folk dahces. Afternoon tea was served.
