Wide Appeals For All-Party Cabinet
Special Australian Correspondent.
Rec. 12.45 a.m. Sydney, Aug. 20. The political crisis has resulted in renewed wide appeals for an all-party Federal administration. The Sydney Momifig Herald says: "Mr. Curtin has earned the gratitude and support of most Australians during the past nine months because of his obvious endeavour to fulfxl his pledge that the Labour Party would not use its tenancy of office to implement purely party politics. That he has not wholly succeeded is due to the simple fact that his Government rests on a strictly party basis. This situation is neither tb> wish nor the responsibility of ihe present Opposition. which has repeatedly expressed its readiness to enter an all-party Government dedicated to the sole purpose of waging the war with the utmost efficiency, constancy and vigour." The parer says no one is more fitted to lead ari all-party Government than Mr. Curtin but that "he cannot claim that uniform support which only an all-party Government can expect while he himself is clinging to a single-party Cabinet."
