Provincial Patriotic Councils Decisions

Agreement with a request by the Stratford patriotic committee that the provincial council should pay the costs of the drive for rubber was expressed by the Taranaki Provincial Patriotic Council which met at Stratford yesterday. Mr. C. A. Wilkinson. M.P., wrote asking for a change in the day of meetings, but, after all delegates discussed possible days, no change was made. . Funds totalled- £52.659 18s 6d. it was stated. ■ The Patea committee forwarded a niotion advocating taxation for raising patriotic funds, and both Hawera and Inglewood representatives said their committees favoured the method. Mr. C. E. Bellringer, New Plymouth, said discussion before the present appeal ended would have a deleterious effect. Mr. J. W. Harding, Hawera, seconded the motion ,and it was carried, members agreeing that it could be fullv discussed at the October meeting before the national board meeting the following month.
