Efforts In Waste Drive At New Plymouth Reviewed

Referring to the response to the waste rubber drive, the chairman of the waste material reclamation committee at New Plymouth, Mr. H. J. Butler, at a meeting of the New Plymouth borough and Taranaki county patriotic committee last night, said waste rubber in the form of tyres was coming into the depot in Devon Street "with a bounce." He reviewed the work of the reclamation committee, and appealed for more men to help the committee. Praise for the work of the seamens rest committee at New Plymouth was given by the chairman, Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour. Every overseas seaman visiting the port received a parcel, he said. In addition, visiting seamen were entertained by New Plymouth concert parties at the seamen's rest room. The patriotic committee decided to grant the seamens rest a further £25.
