FLYING ACTIVITY
CLUB AT NEW PLYMOUTH Even the rain yesterday afternoon did not deter members of the New Plymouth Aero Club, and tbe three machines were kept busy from daylight to dark both yesterday and Saturday by pilots anxious to secure as much flying experience as possible before joining the New Zealand Air Force in the near future. Several pilot members of the club left during the week-end to enter the air force training school at Weraroa. Flight-Lieutenant G. W. Fraser, chief ground instructor at the elementary training school at Bell Block, was the guest of the club yesterday afternoon. Flight-Lieutenant Fraser recently arrived in N?w Zealand from India on a health recruiting trip. Members of the club have decided to send copies of the Taranaki Daily News to members serving overseas. It is felt that they will appreciate thus being kept in touch with club activities, particularly with the phenomenal progress made during the past year. It is pointed out that despite considerable difficulties the club since the outbreak of war has been operatlng on a more extensive scale than any other club in New Zealand. As a result a large liumber of clubtrained pilots are still joining the air force.
