SOUND FINANCES
FITZROY SURF CLUB The report of the Fitzroy Surf Club to be presented to the annual meeting tomorrow night discloses a sound financial position. The year started with a credit balance of £67 2s 2d but, mainly owing to the activities of the social committee, this was increased to £176 9s 8d. The profit on the season's working was £109 7s 6d. The club made an interest free loan of £150 to the Government for the duration of the war. Though the weather conditions were unfavourable and many members were away in the expeditionary force, the activities of the club were maintained. Nevertheless the handicap was a severe one but the club's record in the various competitions was a creditable one. The annual club fixtures held at the Fitzroy beach were successful, numerous teams competing in all the events in which K. Lewis was the most prominent member. s The club extends its thanks to Mr. and Mrs. B. Chapman and members of the women's social committee for valuable assistance during the season.
