FOR SUMMER CRUISES
MULLET BOAT'S ARRIVAL Normally manned by a crew of two, a sailing vessel of the mullet class bought at Auckland has been sailed from Onehunga to New Plymouth by its new owners. Messrs. A.' H. Boon and A. Amoore. It is the largest sailing craft stationed at New Plymouth. The owners purchased the boat at Auckland, where it was built some time ago, had it transported to Onehunga, and l.hen sailed it down to New Plymouth. The trip occupied a day and a-half, as they met a strong southerly head-wind all the way. They left Onehunga about noon and reached New Plymouth at nine o'clock in the evening of the following day, Mr. Amoore bringing the craft down the coast. The boat is 22ft. long and has a nine foot taeam. She carries a mainsail, stay, jib and spanker, and is fitted with an auxiliary oil engine of about 9 h.p. There will be no class in which she can race with other boats of the New Plymouth YachfClub, as she is the only onp of her type at the port.. Interest in the craft has been keen among yachtsmen, who are looking forward to seeing her during the coming yachting season. Except for the length of time taken the trip from Onehunga to New Plymouth was uneventful.
