Sergeant Pilot R. J. Bullen is home on leave and is staying with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. S. Bullen, Westown. Wing-Commander E. Olson. who has been spending a holiday at New Plymouth, returned to Wellington this morning. Mr. H. B. Robb. solicitor in the Public Trust Office. New Plymouth, has been gazetted deputy district Public Trustee in the office. Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Hawke. Hurstville, Sydney, were visitoi's to East Egmont last week. They stayed at the Bunkhouse for a few days, leaving early in the week. The Rev. E. W. Hancock. vicar of Te Kuiti. has entered camp as a military chaplain. Dr. J. F. Staton, examiner for the Royal Schools of Music (London), who was to have conducted examinations at Wanganui this week. has been compelled to remain at Hawera because of illness. The examinations have been postponed. The Rev. J. G. Heath. Christchurch, has been appointed vicar of Papakura in succession to the Rev. H. Sinclair, who was recently appointed to Takapuna. Mr. Heath was*educated at King's College. took his theological course at St. John's College, and later spent five years in Melanesia. Mr. Vernon J. Leck, D.B.E.A., president of the Wellington Esperanlo Club. has been appointed by the New Zealand Esperanto Association as the leading delegate to New Zealand of the International Esperanto League. whose headquarters are at London. Mr. Leck's appointment is for the second period of three years.

Sympathy with Mr. George Gibson, Rahotu, in his illness and hopes for his speedy recovery were expressed at the annual meeting of the Federation of Taranaki Co-operative Dairy Factories at Stratford on Saturday. Mr. Gibson. it was stated. had for many years been prominent for the keen interest he cherished in the New Zealand dairy industry. Mr. G. G. Stewart, who retired earlier in ihe year from the position of publicity manager of the Railways Department, and editor of the Railways Magazine. was presented with an inscribed barometer at an informal gathering of executive officers recently. In the unavoidable absence of the general manager. Mr. E. Casey, the present.al.ion was made by the assistant general manager. Mr. J. Sawers. Other speakers who paid tributes to Mr. Stewart were the chief engineer. Mr. G. J. Bertinshaw, the commercial manager. Mr. A. W. Wellsted. the chief aceount. Mr. W. Bishop. and the publicity and advcrtising manager, Mr. R. C. Mathews.
