SMALL BUT SELECT Lamorna Stud. Okaiawa, whose owner, Mr. S. A. Tippett, has been a consistent supporter of the Hawera Jersey Cattle Club's bull fair since its inception 19 years ago is again represented by a small but. select. entry comprising two two-year-olds and one yearling bull. one being by the fashionably bred Comely's Handsome Prince and two by a son of his out of one of the best, butterfat backed Lamorna matrons. Comely's Handsome Prince is by the imported Victor's Handsome Prince, nine times champion at New Plymouth. Stratford and Hawera shows besides being unbeaten in progenv groups, while . he also sired 16 C.O.R. daughters uo to 6841b fat.. Several of them were show winners. Victor's Handsome Prince was purchased as a yearling for ' 1000 guineas by Mr. H. Salway. of Hua Brook Stud. The dam of Comely's Handsome Prince, Rosy Creek Comely with a record of 5741b fat as a junior two-year-old. incorporates the blood of the great, Bilberrv Twylish. 16 C.O.R. daughters. up to 7411b fat and a bull that left beautiful Jersey type. Lamorna Baron, the two-year-old b.v Comely s Handsome Prince under offer, is out of Lamorna Susie, 4191b fat, in 219 days, whose dam. Lamorna Lass with a C.O.R. 4181b fat junior two-year-old, is at 17 years giving 501b milk daily. Her dam was Mitylene. 559.851b fat at. three years. Lamorna Bing Bo.y, the sire of the other two young bulls, is out of Lamorna Violet. O.H.T. 4601b in 305 days, even a better producer than her dam, Lamorna Lass. Both the two-year-old Lamorna Chum and the yearling. Lamorna Sir Echo. carry double strains of Comely s Handsome Prince, who is the sire of their dams. Chum's dam now •under test being out of Lamorna Reward. C.O.R. 5181b fat and 5801b fat. while Sir Echq's dam goes hack to Lamorna Violet. O.H.T. 4601b fat in 305 days. The long lactation life of the dams show the robustness of constitution in these young bulls which would do credit anywhere.
