SOAP MANUFACTURE.
FAMOUS BRANDS. One of the pringipal industries in Wanganui is the up-to-date soap manufacturing business of J. G. Gilberd and Sons, Ltd., which has been operating for over 50 years. In this factory there is a large staff of employees engaged in manufacturing ihe wellknown and popular "Waxine" Soap, "Stag Brand" Pumice Soap, "Liberty" Carbolic Soap, "Waxine Soap rowder," and numerous other cleansers. An important branch of the industry is the preparation of Pumice Insulation for freezing chambers and high-grade Pumice Powder for manufacturing purposes, and large quantities of these lines are exported from Wanganui annually.
