KAPUNI TENNIS CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual general meeting of the Kapuni Tennis Club was held in the hall on Wednesday night, when Mr. T. i Woodhead presided over a meeting of 24 members. The president's report . stated that the year's working had been very successful financially, as the bal- , ance shcet would show. Two dances had been held. Though the balance sheet showed a substantial credit, it would soon be considerably reduced, as the cost of sur- • veying and transferring the title of the | courts would take up approximately one-third of the credit balance. and the top-dressing of the courts, which would have to be done this season, would make a further heavy inroad. The club was weak in women members last year, but it was hoped there would be several | ' new women members this year. , The president thanked the committee | for its suppo'-t and those who had sup- 1 ported the club. The election of officers rcsulted: Putron. Mr. W. E. Scott; president, Mr. I. V. Buchanan; vice-presiflent. 1 Mr. T. Woodhead: hon. secretary, Mr. G. Revill; commiilce. Missos E. llarrison, A. Steiner and M. Steiner and Messrs. E. Luscombe, R. Donald, D. Walker,.. G. Harrison, T. Woodhead and E. Anstis; club captain, Mr. T. Woodhead: hon. auditor, Mr. G. Muggeridge. A vote of thanks was accorded the

retiring officers and the secretary was voted an honorarium of £2. Owing to the financial posilion of the club it was decided to reduee women's subscriptions by 2s 6d for this year. It was decided to have a working bee at the courts to prepare for the official opening of the club. The purchasing of a new tennis net and paint for marking

out the court was left to Mr. T. Woodhead. The question of xvhether the club should become an incorporated society was left over until a later meeting, to give members time to consider the matter fully. It was decided to defer the top-dressing of the courts till later in Ihe season, when the weather would be warmer to assist the drying out.
