School Cadet Trophy. A cup originallv given to the Hawera Technical High School by the Hawera branch of the Legion of Frontiersmen for long range shooting is, on account of the impossibility of obtaining ammunition, to be an armual award to the smartest nc.o. of the school cadet battalion. Special drill exercises, which will probably be judged by a permanent staff officer of the Hawera Army Department, are being prepared for the competition. Scrap Metals Collection. A drive for waste materials will be conducted at Opunake next Wednesday, the collection being made by the borough rubbish removal service. Metals are to be packed in separate parcels and put in a convenient position for collection. The co-operation of school-chil-dren is being enlisted. and arrangements have been made for the transport of collections from the schools to a central dump at the borough depot. Indoor Bowling at Patea. Patea Druids visited Whenuakura recently and were defeated bv 30 to 17 in an indoor bowling tourney. The teams were: Whenuakura. Newlove, Tai Ngapati, W;,nne.
