RAWHITIROA ACTIVITIES
The annual meeting of the Rawhitiroa Tennis Club was presided over by Mr. H. S. Knuckey, retiring president. The financial report showed a suhstantial credit, and the general report reveaied a successful season. The club entered the C grade competitions and were congratulated on being the winners of their group. Mr. Knuckey thanked Miss N. Wright, secretary, and Miss A. Simpson, captain, Mr. and Mrs. D. Knuckey for use of their court; Miss I. Bleakley, and all who had helped the club and donated trophies. Officers elected were: Patron, Mr. H. A. Wood; president, Mrs. D. Knuckey; vice-presidents, Mrs. H. Wood, Mrs. H. Belcher, Mr. F. Silver, Mr. F. Cave, Mr. H. S. Knuckey, Mr. F. Belcher; secretary and treasurer, Miss A. Simpson; assistant secretary, Miss N. Wright; captain, Miss N. Wright; vice-captain, Mr. R. May; committee, Messrs. N. Wright, P. Silver, M. Bootten, I. Bleakley, Mrs. F. Cave, Mrs. H. Belcher, Messrs. R. May, C. Cave. J. Wright junr.; ladder steward, Mr. R. May; trustees, Mrs. D. Knuckey and Miss M. Bootten; auditor, Mr. B. G. Rush, It was decided to affiliate and" again enter for the competitions. New wire-netting is to be erected by a working bee. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the retiring president, secretary and treasurer, Mr. H, S. Knuckey, Miss N. Wright and Miss M. Bootten. A euchre party and dance was arranged at Rawhitiroa, prizes for which were given by Messrs. F. Tipler, L. Bootten, L. Gemhoefer and L. O'Connor. Prizes were won by Mrs. P. Martin, Miss A. Simpson and Miss N. Wright, Mr. C. Martin, Mr. W. Bootten and Mr. E, Stockman. Consolation prizes went to Mrs. F. Silver and Mr. B, Bleakley. Music was played by Mrs. Sait, with extras by Miss J. Kirk. Mr. L. O'Connor was master of ceremonies. A competition was won by Mr. Ron Tipler. Mr. J. J. Wright thanked the organisers, and ;aid over £5 would be handed to the Spitfire fund as a result of their efforts. A further meeting of the Rawhitiroa mmforts guild was held at the home of Vlrs. W. P. Bootten. Another case of Uoods was packed and dispatched for jverseas.
