U.S.A. PREPARING
DEFENCE COST APPROVED Rec. 7.30 p.m. Washington, Sept. 26. The House of Representatively unanimously approved and sent to the Senate the 1,470,000,000 dollars supplementary army and navy appropriation — the last of the 13,000,000.000 dollars defence expenditures voted this session. Mr. H. L. Stimson, Secretary of War, announced that the army had awarded 2,936,000,000 dollars in contracts since July 1.
