AMERICAN METAL BAN
ACTION AGAINST JAPAN Washington, Sept. 26. President Roosevelt has banned all exports of iron and 'steel scrap except to the Western Hemisphere and Britain, to become effective on October 15. President Roosevelt's ban on iron and steel scrap is obviously aimed at Japan, which will be the importer most affected. It is known that the President and his advisers were cons^dering action against Japan in accordance with British and American plans. Since July 26 exports of heavy meltmg scrap have been subject to export licenses. Now the system is applicable to all 75 types of iron and steel scrap, of which only 13 varieties can be exported.
