EVENTS AT MIDHIRST
A combined flag five hundred party and dance was held by the Midhirst Golf Club. Fifteen tables were occupied for five hundred, the yinners being Mr. and Mrs. R. Kovaleski and Messrs. F. and H. Kovaleski. A travelling flag prize was won by Mrs. E. G. Jones. Music for dancing was played by Mr. S. Carter. Mr. J. Vinten was master of ceremonies. The annual contest for the Meads cup played between teams of boys attending the Midhirst primary school was won by D. Bell's team, which scored five points out of a possible of six. Each team played three matches, the results being: D. Bell (captain), played 3, won 2, drawn 1, lost 0, points 5; N. Jones (captain), 3, 0, 2, 1, 2; A. Ogier (captain), 3, 1, 1, 1, 3; O. Nicol (captain', 3, 0, 2, 1, 2, Mr, W. J. James was referee and Messrs. J. E. James and N. Jones were timekeeper and linesman respectiveln The teams were: D. Bell (captain), C. Kirkby, D. Copeland, W. hdlam, J. Taylor, E. Fraser; N. Jones (captain), A. Strong, R. Latham, W. Green, C. Mills, B. Smith; A. Ogier (captain), R. Boyles, R. Murray, E. Manning, L. Lyford, M. Carroll. O. Nicoll (captain), R. Nicol, N. Bell, L. Kendall. D. Quigley, L. Chapman. Personal. Miss E. Marriott, New Plymouth, was the guest recently of Mrs. J. B. Hunt. Radnor Road. Mrs. W. Platt has returned from Auckland. Miss B. M. Hunt has returned to New Plymouth.
