DORSETVILLE OFFERING Probably greatest interest at the fait will centre in the smalj but select consignment of two yearlings and a two-year-old from Mr. E. C. Locke's Dorsetville stud for two of them are by the Dreaming Sam bull Meon Ocha. who has made further Jersey history for North Taranaki. His breeding was known to be ideal for both type and production, as he is by the great Brampton Dreaming Sam with numerous V.H.C. and C.O.R. daughters up to 8881b. fat, out of Snow View Lassie, with several records over 5001b., but a herd sire survey of 11 dams, 11 daughters pairs, showed that the dams averaged 4501b. fat and the daughters 4541b. (ranging from 5441b. to 4041b.). Ochre, though six years old. was sold for 100 guineas recently to go to Rawkes Bay. The yearling Dorsetville Superior Sam, is out of Dorsetville Suner Lassie (with two records up to 4821b. fat), by a double grandson of the imported Forward Prince, sire of 12 C.O.R. daughters, out of Woodlands Lady Superior. with three group herd tests up to 5101b. fat. and expected to do 6001b. under C.O.R. this year. The other yearling.' Dorsetville Sam Supreme. is out of Pinewoods Sybil's Fern (G.H.T. 4611b. fat. at four years. 5381b. fat at five years) by Pinewoods Sybil's You'll Do— Pinewoods Fern's Gipsv. H.C., thus incorporating the Pinewoods imported strains Sybil's Volunteer, Viola's Golden Laddie and Golden Fern's Volunteer. The two-year-old Dorsetville Golden Lad is out of the same cow. Dorsetville Super Lassie. as one of the yearlings. hut he is by Woodlands Gold Shol, the show champion that was sold at Mr. H. C. Sampson's dispersal for 240gns. He is by the imported Vagabond of Oaklands C.B.B. out of the famous show cow and matron Woodlands Salvia. V.H.C. , 7421b. fat. The trio are in great heart.
