Miss G. McKellar has returned to New Plymouth from Wellington, where she spent a holiday with her sister, Mrs. H. Abraham, Khandallah. Miss Fabian, Auckland, is visiting New Plymouth. Miss Joan Blake, Wanganui, is staying with her sister, Mrs. P. L. Phillipps. Mrs. C. G. Sunderland and Miss Ruth Sunderland left yasterday for Wellington to attend the Weir-Sunderland weddir g to-morrow. Mrs. J. L. Mander left on Wedncsday to spend a week's holiday at Auckland. Mrs. J. Hobbs, Hawera, is visiting New Plymouth and is the guest of Mrs. A. E. Rawson. Mrs. T. O. S. Davies, Mrs. Guy Macallan and Mrs. John Davies were hostesses yesterday afternoon at a mah

jongg party held at the home of Mrs. G. F. Rich. Five tables were engaged in play and the guests brought articles for the jumble stall at the forthcoming Baby Day, organised by the New Plymouth Plunket Society. Miss Valerie Ashton has arrived to spend a holiday with her mother, Mrs. J. H. Ashton. Miss Jean Daisley left yesterday to spend a holiday at Auckland. Mrs. G. A. Eddowes and Mrs. R. F. Mainland were joint hostesses at a bridge and mah jongg afternoon on Wednesday at Mrs. Eddowes' home. The afternoon was in aid of a stall at the forthcoming Baby Day of the New Plymouth Plunket Society, and guests brought jars of assorted pickles and jams amounting to five dozen, Women's Cluli Outing. About 25 members of the gardening circle of the Taranaki Women's Club visited two New Plymouth gardens on Wednesday afternoon. The first was at the home of Mrs. G. H. Hutton, where members admired. the rockery with its bhze of colour. Afternoon tea was served there. Later the garden of Mrs. W. Boyle was visited and the begonia house, the tulips and ranunculi, and the flowering cherry trees were admired. The president of the ciub, Mrs. D. Hutchen, thanked both the hostesses.
