FINANCIAL SUCCESS

stratford tennis year Though the past season was a financial success, its success from a sporting and social point of view was not as great, said the president, Mr. G. Graham, at the 45th annual meeting of the Stratford Lawn Tennis Club last night. The balance-sheet showed that the club's income was £105, while outgoings for permanent improvements amounted to a little over £50. Cash in hand amounted to £13. On the suggestion of the secretary it was decided that the committee should have power to make contributions of up to £5 5s to any patriotic fund. It was decided to postpone a suggestion to make a war loan. Officers elected were: President, Mr. G. Graham; vice-presidents, Mrs. G. Brown and Mr. H. McGregor; secretarji and treasurer, Mr. H. E. Lawence; ground warden, Mr. L. Francis; committee. Misses P. Bertie and J. Francis and Messrs. N. Ennis, L. G. Mclnnes, R. Sheppard; representatives to Central Taranaki committee, Messrs. N. Ennis and G. Graham; representatives to Taranaki Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs. N. Ennis and Graham. Opening day, it was decided, would be held on Saturday, October 5. New members elected were: Misses Stace and Ward, Mrs. N. Ennis, Messrs. L. G. Mclnnis, R. J. M. Whytcross, A. E. Pollock and the Rev. H. S. Scott.
