SOCIETY MELODRAMA.
"STRONGER THAN DfelRE," KING'S. "Stronger Than Desire." a drama replete with jealousy, blackmail and even murder, and "The Crowd Roars," a virile and entertaining film, will be seen on a double programme to be shown finally at the King's Theatre, Stratford, to-night. The Lone Wolf, for 20 years one of the most exciting and enchanting figures of the screen, the stage and the fiction world, returns to the screen in the person of Warren William in Columbia's "The Lone Wolf Strikes," | which will head a double bill commenI cing a season at the King's Theatre tomorrow at 1.30 and 7.45 p.m. Endowed with pretty Joan Perry as bis leading ]ady and an excellent cast headed by Eric Blore, Astrid Allwyn, Alan Baxter and Montagu Love, William is superb as the light-flngered, light-hearted Michael Lanyard, who steals fortunes and kisses with equanimity. A sparkling screenplay provides the framework on which various situations— witty, romantic and dramatic — are built. The story begins with the Lone Wolf being drawn from his retirement by the murder of a close friend and the theft of a valuable -fiecklace. Retrieving the jewels is child's play for an old hand like the Lone Wolf, but he has to put up with the meddlesome interruptions of pretty Delia Jordan, daughter of the slain r.-.an, who insists on showing him how to detect. "Kid Nightingale," a story of the boxing ring, will be the second attraction.
