KAPONGA PLUNKET ROOM
The Kaponga ccntenary memorial, which is to be opened by the Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, on Friday, is a utilitarian building which will serve the drtal purposes of a women's rcst room and Plunket room. It is situated between the post offlce and the police station, the section having a frontage of 40ft to Manaia Road. The building is of modernistic Spanish design. The Plunket room, which is 12ft 6in by 9ft. faces north and east wilh large horizontal. sun windows giving it a maximum of sunshine and light. The rest room is 15ft by 10ft and faces west. There is a large porch with balustrade wall, the approach to which is by way of a ramp for the use of prams. A low concrete wall to match the building runs along th- strect frontage. The centenary committee has had a working bee to put the grounds in order. and the women members and otiiers have taken responsibility for the provision oi curtains and other fnrnishings.
