TE RAPA WORK

The going on the course proper 60 feet out was in splendid order for galloping at Te Ra pa. Several useful efforts were recorded, the best of the morning being those of Laughing Fox, Olympus, Young Paddon, Lornacre, Foxsen and Acreman. Laughing Fox (Bartles) and Olympus (Ramsay) were associated over five furlongs, running to the half-mile in 53 1-ds and traversing the full distance in lm 7 l-5s. It was a useful effort on the part of both horses, who are to contest engagements at Paeroa. Laughing Fox is to open his three-year-old career in the Maiden Handicap on Saturday and it will be interesting to note how he shapes. Olympus, improved by his race at Avondale, is not without prospects in the open sprint. Beau Repaire and Marshall Hall, who have taken no harm from Avondale exertions, were restricted to strong pace work over a round. Young Paddon (Mclnally) was a length in front of Lornacre (Ozanne) over the deciding stages of six furlongs in lm 21 3-5s. They ran their initial three furlongs in 38M>s, | half a mile in 53 4-5s, and five in lm 7 | l-5s. While Young Paddon galloped with his customary brilliance, L'ornacre was not disgraced, as he is not a good track worker, and on the way he shaped this morning he should not be long in reaching his best. Cape Egmont (Gollop) and Forest Bridge (Long) ran five furlongs in lm 11 4-5s, their best half-mile in 56j/2S. Condilion of Raceline. Raceline (Gollop), under a strong hold in the early stages, was ftnishing on to complete a round in 2m 14s. He looks in good order for racing at Paeroa. Gay Rosette (Long), Calorie (Ensor) and Glen Bevan (Mclnally) were practically on terms at the completion of half a mile in 53 2-5s. They ran their first three furlongs in 38s and all executed their work pleasingly. Mio Lume (Hain) traversed a round in 2m 10 4-5s, his first half in 5G 4-5s. Calshot. Son of the Soil and Eetcetera 1 ncgotiateci six furlongs in lm 24VaS. A smart effort over three furlongs was credited to Foxsen and Acreman (McKenzie), who clocked 37 4-5s for the distance. Sunny Downs (Jones), Cappy (Brown), Gael (Howard), Tooley Street (McGregor) and Joy Vaals (Winderl ran seven furlongs in lm 36s, Marie's Choice (Gollop) five in lm 8V2S, Kingcraft (Goulsbro) three in 41s, Karatoki (Long) and Forest Acre (Gollop) five in lm 8 4-5s — their first half in 54 l-5s. Midland (Curran) gave a dashing exhibition over five flights of hurdles. He is aa acceptor for the lSfc»uarahi Hurdles on the first .day at Paeroa, and he appeals as being hard to beat. The schooling of Black Musk (Muir) over • 0 same fences was not as impressive, but although he got in close to several fences he jleared thexu safel^j
