PETROL PURCHASER FINED

Whangarei, Sept. 25. Charged with failing to surrender the appropriate coupon when purchasing four gallons of motor spirit, at Auckland on June 1, John Laughlin Fuller Sweeney. aged 21, was fined £2 by Mr. Ra.vmond Ferner, S.M.. in the Magistrate's Court at Whangarei. The magistrate said that in fixing the penalty he was giving consideration to the fact that defendant would be entering military camp next week. Senior-Sergeant A. Henderson said that when purchasing benzine at Auckland Sweeney offered an old coupon. He told the service station attendant that he would post the new coupon from Whangarei, but had failed to do so until July, after having been communicated with by the Oil Fuel Controller.
